Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Online Timers & Counters collects, why, and what control you have over it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.

Last updated: August 21, 2026

The short version

  • The timers themselves work entirely in your browser. Your timer history and stopwatch sessions never leave your device.
  • We do not ask you to register, and we do not collect your name, email address or phone number unless you choose to email us.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand which tools get used, and Google AdSense to pay for hosting. Both rely on cookies.
  • Every non-essential cookie is denied by default until you press Accept on the consent banner. Declining costs you no functionality.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

Who we are

Online Timers & Counters ("we", "us") operates the website at https://onlinecounters.app. For any question about this policy or the data we handle, write to support@onlinecounters.app.

Information that stays on your device

The tools store a small amount of data in your browser using local storage. This is not transmitted to us and we have no ability to read it:

  • Timer and stopwatch history — up to 50 recent entries per tool, so you can reuse a duration or compare sessions.
  • Your alert sound preference and volume level.
  • The numbering used to name new timers automatically.
  • Your cookie consent choice, so the banner does not reappear on every visit.

You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings, or by using the clear button in the history sidebar.

Information collected automatically

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamp. These logs are used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse or outages. They are not used to build a profile of you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages and tools are used and roughly where visitors come from. This is aggregate and statistical — we use it to decide what to build next, not to identify individuals. Analytics storage is denied by default and is only enabled if you accept cookies.

Advertising

This site displays advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and to measure their performance. Where you have consented, those ads may be personalised based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Where you have not consented, Google is instructed to serve non-personalised advertising instead.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly at aboutads.info/choices and the Network Advertising Initiative.

More detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services is available in Google's partner sites policy.

Consent and Google Consent Mode

We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before you make a choice, advertising storage, ad personalisation, ad user data and analytics storage are all set to denied. Only after you press Accept on the consent banner are those categories enabled. If you press Decline, they stay denied and every timer, sound and history feature still works normally.

To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser settings — the consent banner will appear again on your next visit.

If you email us

When you contact us we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it only to reply and to fix the thing you told us about. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your address to anyone else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Residents of California may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and may opt out of its sale — we do not sell personal information.

Because we do not operate user accounts, most of the data connected to you lives either in your own browser (which you can clear yourself) or with Google as an independent controller (which you can manage through the Google links above). For anything else, email us and we will help.

Children

This site is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to external websites, such as Google's advertising controls. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies before providing them with any information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as the law requires. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
